Rainbow Station has COMMUNITY as one of its five values. While we cherish our internal community of families, children, faculty and staff, we too embrace the community we live in. Rainbow Station enjoys every opportunity to give back to the community and our schools have done so through such charitable opportunities as the March of Dimes, Make A Wish, Habitat for Humanity, St Jude’s Children’s Hospital, the Capital Diaper Band, Feedmore Richmond Food Bank, and the Christmas Mother, just to name a few.
Through giving back, our children have numerous opportunities to understand the world around them and embrace the social responsibility of helping those in need, and of course this is done in a developmentally appropriate manner. While our younger children may collect books or gloves for children who have none, our preschool children visit senior centers and write to the troops, while our older school age children visit Alzheimer’s units and have assisted in delivering Meals on Wheels.
Rainbow Station is philosophically positioned to support the communities they live in, and while there are numerous corporate examples of that, it is also a value that we pass on through our curriculum for our children and our family involvement opportunities.
