NURSERY SCHOOL/PRESCHOOL DIRECTOR
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Executes administrative functions, supervises educational programming in Rainbow StationSM and oversees the delivery of nursing care in the Get Well PlaceSM.

MINIMAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Must be a graduate of an accredited college or university with an emphasis in child development of a related field. Master of Science in Education preferred.
  2. Must have at least three years of full time teaching experience with young children.
  3. Must have at least one year administrative experience.
  4. CPR certified or obtain certification within six months of hire date.
  5. First Aid certified or obtain certification within six months of hire date.

VILLAGE DIRECTOR
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Executes administrative functions, supervises educational programming in Rainbow StationSM and oversees the delivery of nursing care in the Get Well PlaceSM.

Responsible for the daily supervision and management of a group of ten to fifteen children between the ages of three to fourteen years. Oversees curriculum, materials management and general supervision of preschool program. Responsible for coordination of staff orientation and inservices. Responsible for all school functions in the absence of the director.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must possess a love for children and an ability to relate well with them, their families, and staff.
  2. Baccalaureate degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or other child related field.
  3. Two years experience teaching young children in a group setting with at least one year in a supervisory role, preferably in a NAEYC accredited program.
  4. CPR certified or obtain certification within six months of hire date.
  5. First Aid certified or obtain certification within six months of hire date.

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR: VILLAGE
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the daily supervision and management of a class of twenty (20) to thirty (30) children with direct responsibility for a group of ten (10) to twelve (12) children between the ages of three (5) to five (14) years. Oversees curriculum, materials management and general supervision of schoolage program. Responsible for coordination of staff orientation and inservices. Responsible for all school functions in the absence of the director.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must possess a love for children and an ability to relate well with them, their families, and staff.
  2. Baccalaureate degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or other child related field.
  3. Two years experience teaching young children in a group setting with at least one year in a supervisory role, preferably in a NAEYC accredited program.
  4. CPR certificate or obtain certification within three months of employment.
  5. First Aid Certificate.

GET WELL PLACESM - COORDINATOR
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Utilizes the nursing process and current pediatric clinical knowledge to provide professional nursing care for children in the Get Well PlaceSM and the Rainbow StationSM. Manages and supervises Rainbow StationSM/Get Well PlaceSM health care issues and Get Well PlaceSM personnel issues.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
  2. Current State of Virginia nursing license.
  3. At least two years of recent pediatric experience.
  4. CPR certified.
  5. First Aid certified.

CURRICULUM SPECIALIST
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for implementation of the Rainbow StationSM curriculum, PLAYWORKS, the continuing education of teachers and parents, and the development of associated educational resources to support these endeavors.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must possess a love for children and an ability to relate well to them, their families and other teachers.
  2. Baccalaureate degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or other child related field. Prefer one year experience in NAEYC accredited program.
  3. Three years experience teaching children in a group setting.
  4. CPR certified or obtain certification within six months of hire date.
  5. First Aid certified or obtain certification within six months of hire date.

MASTER TEACHER
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the daily supervision and management of a class of eight to thirty children with direct responsibility for four to fifteen children, between the ages of zero and fourteen years. Oversees curriculum, materials, management, and general supervision of assigned class/group.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

To be considered a Master Teacher, a candidate must:

  • Possess a love for children and an ability to relate well with them, their families, and other teachers
  • and

  • Hold a Baccalaureate degree or higher in early childhood education, child development, or other child related field or hold a Baccalaureate degree in a non-related field and 18 hours of early childhood education or education credits, PLUS with a minimum of 10 years of experience teaching young children in group setting, the majority having been taught at Rainbow Station
  • and

  • Serve as a presenter a minimum of three separate topics for educational conferences at the national, state or local levels, such as VAECE, NAA, etc.
  • and

  • Present at least one continuing education session for Rainbow Station faculty per year on a topic of interest in early childhood or school age recreation
  • and

  • Participate in and graduate from the Rainbow Station COR program or equivalent Rainbow Station leadership program
  • and

  • Obtain an annual lesson plan score of 1.0 – 1.2
  • and

  • Obtain an annual classroom evaluation score of at least 1.2
  • and

  • Obtain an annual evaluation scored of at least 90


  • LEAD TEACHER
    SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
    Responsible for the daily supervision and management of a class of eight to thirty children, with direct responsibility for four (4) to fifteen (15) children, between the ages of zero and fourteen years. Oversees curriculum, materials, management and general supervision of assigned class.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    1. Must possess a love for children and an ability to relate well with them, their families, and teachers.
    2. Baccalaureate degree in early childhood education, child development, or other child related field and one year experience teaching young children in a group setting.

    or

    1. Baccalaureate degree in a non-related field and 18 ECE credits and two (2) years of experience teaching young children in a group setting.

    or

    1. Associates degree in ECE, Child Development, or other child related field and two (2) years experience teaching young children in a group setting.

    or

    1. CDA certificate in ECE and four years experience teaching young children in a group setting.
    2. Prefer at least one year of experience in a NAEYC accredited program.
    3. CPR certified or obtain certification within six months of hire date.
    4. First Aid certified or obtain certification within six months of hire date.

    TEACHER
    SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
    Responsible for the daily supervision and management of a group of four to fifteen children between the ages of birth to fourteen years.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Must possess a love for children and an ability to relate well with them, their families and staff.
    2. Baccalaureate degree in ECE, Child Development, or other child related field.

    or

    1. Baccalaureate degree in non-related field and 12 hours of ECE college courses and one (1) year experience teaching young children in a group setting.

    or

    1. Associate degree in ECE, Child Development, or other child related field and one year experience teaching young children in a group setting.

    or

    1. Current CDA certificate in ECE and two years experience teaching young children in a group setting.

    or

    1. 18 credit hours of ECE college courses and three years experience teaching young children in a group setting.

    or

    1. Seven years experience.
    2. Prefer at least one year experience in a NAEYC accredited program.
    3. CPR certified or obtain certification within six months of hire date.

    ASSISTANT TEACHER
    SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
    Responsible for assisting with the daily supervision and management of a group of four to fifteen children between the ages of zero and fourteen years.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Must possess a love for children and an ability to relate well to them, their families, and fellow employees.
    2. Associates degree in ECE, Child Development, or other related field.
    3. Current CDA Certificate in ECE and one year experience teaching young children in a group setting.
    4. 6 credit hours of ECE college courses and three years experience teaching young children in a group setting.
    5. High school diploma and four years experience teaching children in a group setting.
    6. Prefer at least one year experience in a NAEYC accredited program.
    7. CPR certified or obtain certification within six months of hire date.

    CLASSROOM AIDE
    SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
    Assist with the daily care of a group of four (4) to fifteen (15) children with special attention paid to the ongoing needs of assigned primary care group.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Must possess a love for children and an ability to relate well with them, their families, and fellow employees.

      and

    2. High school diploma/GED with exceptions made at the discretion of the Director.

      and

    3. Must be at least 18 years of age.

      and

    4. CPR certified or obtain certification within six months of employment.

    STAFF REGISTERED NURSE
    SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
    Utilizes the nursing process and current pediatric clinical knowledge to provide professional nursing care for children in the Get Well PlaceSM and the Rainbow StationSM.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    1. Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
    2. Current State of Virginia nursing license.
    3. At least two years of recent pediatric experience.
    4. CPR certified or obtain certification within six months of hire date.
    5. Successful completion of a physical assessment course prior to or within the first six months of employment.
    6. First Aid certified.

    LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE
    SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
    Provides skilled nursing care for children in the Get Well PlaceSM under the supervision of the registered nurse.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    1. Must possess a love for children and an ability to relate well with them, their families, and teachers.
    2. Current LPN licensure.
    3. Minimum 1 year pediatric experience within last five years.
    4. CPR certified.
    5. First Aid certified.

    CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT
    SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
    Assists with the daily care of children in the Get Well PlaceSM.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Must possess a love for children and an ability to relate well with them, their families, and teachers.
    2. Successful completion of Certified Nursing Assistant certificate.
    3. High school graduate.
    4. Previous experience working with children.
    5. CPR certified.
    6. First Aid certified.

    ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
    SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
    Responsible for greeting children, families, and visitors; answering the telephones; receiving and posting fees; and general clerical duties as requested by the director.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Pleasant, gracious and courteous manner with and ability to relate well to the public.
    2. High school diploma required, some college preferred.
    3. One year experience working with the public.
    4. Competency in the following clerical skills to include, but not limited to
      • Typing
      • Filing
      • Record Keeping
      • Telephone systems
      • Computer
    5. CPR certified or obtain certification within six months of hire date.

    MASTER RECREATIONAL COUNSELOR

    7. Associate degree in education, early childhood education, child development, or other child related field with a minimum of ten years of experience teaching young children in a group setting the majority having been taught with Rainbow Station.
    8. and

    9. CPR certified or obtain certification within six months of employment.
    10. and

    11. First Aid certified or obtain certification within six months of employment.

    12. RECREATIONAL COUNSELOR
      SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
      Responsible for the daily supervision and management of an accountability group of 15-20 children between the ages of five (5) and fourteen (14). Oversees curriculum, materials and general supervision of an assigned group.

      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

      1. Must possess a love for children and an ability to relate well with them, their families, and teachers.
      2. Baccalaureate degree in early childhood education, child development, or other child related field and one year experience teaching young children in a group setting.

      or

      1. Baccalaureate degree in a non-related field and 18 credit hours in ECE college courses and two (2) years of experience teaching young children in a group setting.

      or

      1. Associates degree ECE, Child Development, or other child related field and two (2) years experience teaching young children in a group setting.

      or

      1. Current CDA certificate in ECE and four years experience teaching young children in a group setting.

      2. Baccalaureate degree in early childhood education, child development, or other child related field with a minimum of one (1) year experience teaching young children in a group setting.

      1. Baccalaureate degree in a non-related field and 12 credit hours of ECE college courses with minimum of one (1) year of experience teaching young children in a group setting.

      or

      1. Associate degree in ECE, Child Development, or other child related field with a minimum of one (1) year experience teaching young children in a group setting.

      1. Current CDA certificate in ECE with a minimum of two (2) years experience teaching young children in a group setting.

      or

      1. 18 credit hours of ECE college courses or Education courses with a minimum of three (3) years experience teaching young children in a group setting.

      RECREATIONAL ASSISTANT

      COOK/KITCHEN MANAGER
      SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
      Responsible for all aspects kitchen management, including but not limited to, daily preparation and delivery of the center menu (breakfast, lunch, am & pm snack), daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning responsibilities, and ordering/shopping for kitchen foodstuffs and supplies.

      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS*:

      1. Must possess a love for children and an ability to relate well to them, their families, and fellow employees.
      2. High school graduate/GED. Some culinary education preferable.
      3. Must be at least 18 years of age.
      4. One year minimum of food service cooking experience.
      5. CPR certified or obtain certification within six months of hire date.

      *Candidates whose qualifications far surpass those required above may be considered Kitchen Managers
