Rainbow StationSM was created to provide services for five distinct populations:

1. Nursery and Preschool children (0-5 years) seeking quality early childhood education.

From the beginning, Rainbow StationSM and the Get Well PlaceSM have ascribed to excellence. Commitment to the belief that "Excellence breeds Excellence", Rainbow StationSM standards for teacher qualifications and curriculum development have been and are high. Our degreed or certified teachers provide quality early learning experiences while our nurses oversee the health and safety of all children, families, and employees.

2. Children (Kindergarten through fifth grade) needing afterschool recreation and summer camp programs.

Creative curriculum planning geared toward the needs of the older child has been the hallmark of our afterschool programs. We know that, developmentally, the school aged child is more content in his/her own space away from the "babies". The more distant the space, the more content the child.

3. Children with learning challenges requiring individualized educational interventions.

Using a team approach, experts from the community, parents, and Rainbow StationSM teachers and nurses work together to maximize each child's learning potential.

4. Children with acute, mild illnesses excluded from their usual school or childcare arrangement.

The Get Well PlaceSM, an infirmary for mildly ill children, is unique to Rainbow StationSM and provides the only services of its kind in the Richmond area and is one of approximately 325 sick care facilities in the United States.

5. Children with chronic special health care needs--particularly those needing medical interventions.

Currently children with medical needs represent approximately ten percent [10%] of the enrolled student population. Depending on their medical condition and the level of nursing supervision required, special needs children are admitted directly to the classroom or to the "well room", "R & R", in the Get Well PlaceSM.
